Nondestructive Evaluation of Parking Garage

FPrimeC_Parking Garage Inspection_Toronto_2

Scope

FPrimeC Solutions was hired byEXP Services Inc.to perform Nondestructive Evaluation of Parking Garage atCF Toronto Eaton Centre, Toronto, Ontario. The area under investigation was a concrete slab along the entrance ramp of the parking facilities.

The main objective of the project was to verify the thickness of concrete slab usingImpact-Echomethod, assess structural integrity, and determine the likelihood of active corrosion usingHalf-Cell Corrosion Potential Mapping.

Solution: Nondestructive Evaluation of Parking Garage

Two areas are under investigation are located at the entrance and exit ramps. The ramp elements are reinforced concrete slabs with asphalt topping. Asphalt was removed prior to testing concrete surface. Different nondestructive evaluation tools were used to assess the two areas. A systematic grid was designed, and tests were conducted on each and every grid point.

1- Impact-Echo

Impact-Echotest was used to verify the thickness of concrete slab, and to verify the structural integrity of the slab. A total of 192 test point locations were identified for Area 1 and 18 points for Area 2. The test help identify potential delamination across the slab.

2 -半电池Corrosion Potential

Half-Cell corrosion potentialmapping was used to determine the likelihood of active corrosion in the area. The test helps identify the locations where the likelihood of corrosion is high.
